5) racists
I can't stand people who practice stereotyping - like you seem to do about "devoutly religious people."
Believe it or not, the majority of "devoutly religious people" aren't trying to convert or condemn you. They're only practicing a personal faith.
Why are you so arrogant as to "hate them?" Religion is a personal decision, like athiesm, taoism, hinduism, christianity, sufism, homosexuality or sodomy. And, like those examples, it's really none of your damn business what people do in private.
By making it "your business" you're being no different than the "racists" you condemn.
That Indian girl you're dating ... is she Hindi? Would that lower your opinion of her if she was? Be honest.

If you're so hateful of capitalism (putting it #1 on the list) why did your family move to the US? You're an adult, you can move to any other country if you want. Cuba isn't too far away.
You're in college at UCB with the intent to study law, so obviously, you're on your way to becoming socially elite. By living, eating at Blondie's pizza, purchasing textbooks at the campus bookstore, and buying PC games like GW in the US you're contributing to the free market. Doesn't that bother you?

Most of my experiences with devoutly religious people have been really bad.
For example, most of the devoutly religious people I know condemn my friend just because he was born with a different sexual orientation, if that isn’t practicing stereotyping I don’t know what the hell is. He is one of the best guys I know, honest and caring person.
My girlfriends family is deeply religious and also the most corrupting and vile people i know, they try to control other peoples lives and they look down from their highhorses and condem everything that they dont seem fit. You should have seen it when I, god forbid, tried to move in with my girlfriend of 2 years into our own apartment (im 22 and shes 20). They did everything to try to stop it, including trying to cut my girlfriends college funding.
I grew up with my heavily catholic grandmother always critisizing and insulting me after she moved into our home. Everything I did i was a bad person and i was going to hell for it. She was mad at me untill the day she could no longer speak, and died the next day.
And Everyone pratices stereotypeing .. It's how humans quickly identify and classify everything including human beings.

It's terrible that those people gave your friend a hard time and those other people in your life - but does that justify the stereotyping of all "religious people?" There's probably more than one person in the forum that considers themselves religious who isn't like that - does it matter to you that you've just insulted them?
Maybe it should read "arrogant religious people" or "holier than thou religious people." The term "devout religious people" just condemns all people of faith.
Here's a story:
I'm Asian. When I was young I had the shit kicked out of me by a bunch of black guys for being the only Asian on the bus. I was kicked in the face and body repeatedly. At the end I was too bloody to recognize.
My uncle had a grocery store in Mississippi - he was the only Asian in the community and was robbed by a black guy who decided to shoot him in the face anyway.
By your rationale it would be OK for me to condemn all African Americans for my experience But you're wrong. I blame the individuals, not the "class" of individuals. I hold nothing against different races - I've dated blacks, asians and caucasians.

i agree with synthos. i have this religious friend and hes tricked me more than 5 times to come to some ridiculous church meeting. blame me for being a gullible idiot, but im telling you this guy needs to be locked up. hes converting everyone he sees into jesusism or whatever.
lets just say that from now on every time someone mentions religion i immediately think of the time this guy brought me to some pathetic church meeting where i met my french teacher who started this whole "wow your religious and i didnt know it" on me. its prejudiced me against all forms of religion *shudder*

I've had my own share of bad encounters with religious evangelizing "zealots." I'm put-off when someone from Jehova's Witnesses won't leave my doorstep. "Zealots" of any type are pretty closed minded and irritating.
But there's a big difference between religious "zealots" and "devoutly religious." Sino-Soviet criticized all "devoutly religious."
The "devoutly religious" include Buddhists, Sufis, Jews and Hindus. Did he mean to condemn them too? If not he better clarify that.
I have a problem with anyone who is critical of others for personal choices. Not all religious people are homophobic zealots. Religious folk who condemn all athiests are just jerks - but so are athiests who condemn all religious people.

STOP FLAMING!!! as I have said in a forum before, it doesn't matter about beliefs or religions, it's just personal pet-hates. let's just get back on topic and post your 5 most-wanted items into Room 101 (if any of you have seen that show)
smurfhunter. Im a afriad to say thats simply another example of hasty stereotyping. One bad experience creating your overall impression of "religious people".
This may be WAY to controversial to say, but...
I myself am a christian. Not catholic, mormon, etc etc. I do not consider myself religious, as i dont consider what i believe in to BE religion. It is my faith. This being said, I also do not cram "religion" down people's throat. Yes i have shared my faith with many many people, yet this has only occured when i was asked, or the conversation led into it. I also do not condem people for not seeing things my way. Of course, i am human, so from time to time i do slip up and may act too forceful or overlly judgemental.
However, i do see that a large portion of the world has been scarr'd by scewed religious beliefs and twisted individuals bent on self-gratiification. I am sorry you had experienced such horrible problems with such people, but again, stereotpying is never fact and never a definite. As Xue Yi Liang had said, it is the individuals at fault, not the race, religion, beliefs etc.

As for religion, I am speaking only based on what I have seen personally. Religious people have not been kind to me. At all. Therefore, I reserve to right to hate whoever hates me for my personal beliefs. I've been beaten and by devoutly religious people. The ones who weren't so devout were more closed about their belief, and thus, they did not make it on my list. I should have changed that to "devoutly religious people who I have met", but the idea stands that I have no religious fanatics who I can honestly say I didn't strongly dislike. So to clarify, its anyone who enforces their beliefs on others. That was my mistake, I obviously I cannot judge who I've never met. I thought that would be obvious. And yeah, I was actually referring mainly to Israeli Jews.
My girlfriend is agnostic, and I can't honestly answer the second part of your question. Its too hard for me to judge.
Its impossible to avoid capitalism completely. Therefore, going to school, trying to earn a degree, its not a blatant support of capitalism - its a requirement for school. I assure you, I am not going to school, buying American products, and living here because I love the semantics of capitalism . I'm doing it because in our present time, I have little choice.

You don't have to love capitalism to participate in the free market. Pure capitalism isn't my personal ideal either - but neither is socialism for me. You, on the other hand, seem to abhor capitalism entirely, and that doesn't make sense to me.
Obviously it's not entirely bad or you wouldn't be playing GW on a PC and posting in gaming forums.
You have little choice? Is UC Berkeley the only school in the world? I won't argue that issue, but nobody forced you to buy GW which is of no socially redeeming value.

Many people come to the US for schooling or work simply because the US is a wealthy country with easy access and plenty of opportunities. It's not a perfect country, but it's a successful country founded on the roots of capitalism. Like it or not, anyone who comes to this country in order to benefit from its opportunities is supporting capitalism.
Please explain your distain for capitalism. I can understand indifference but frank distain, in your case, doesn't make sense since you wouldn't have had this opportunity in our country without it.

Wait wait wait, before this thread gets locked, here's what PieXags thinks we should do.
Shut up.
Obviously, when people are posting things they hate people are going to agree and disagree, that's a given. But for the love of christ take your DISCUSSION on the issues, elsewhere. Just let people post what they hate and so on. So what if you disagree, a lot of people do. You could at least hold yer tongues as so not to ruin the thread that WAS doing just fine.
